WHAT Is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence in machines that learn, reason, and problem-solve on their own.

 

3 Stages of AI Development

1. Narrow AI – AI that performs tasks like language translation or facial recognition.
2. Superhuman AI – Exceeds humans in specific domains (e.g., chess, math).
3. General AI (AGI) – Fully autonomous intelligence on par or beyond humans.

 

As AI progresses, its influence moves from a helpful tool to an independent actor, challenging what it means to be human

 

 

 

Why Should Christians Care

• AI as a Voice of Authority
  Many now turn to AI instead of Scripture or the Holy Spirit for guidance                                 
• Replacing Human Connection
  AI “companions” simulate empathy but lack the soul and accountability God designed in relationships, now turn to AI instead of Scripture or the Holy Spirit for guidance                                      
• Idolatry in the Digital
  AI becomes a modern idol when people place trust and reverence in machines over God
